Today I just got my medical report and I have been told, what it includes. But i think doctors have gone mad, they described some alien names to which i am suffering and suggested some strange therapy for cure.

I feel lonely, there is no joy and fun in my life, nobody cares for me, I want to fight, I am always right.

Indian Smartphone users, on an average, spend over three hours daily on their devices and 25% of them check their phones over 100 times a day.

According to a new study published by dna India

20% of social media users are linked with depression. When the numbers are broken down, this means that approximately 6.9 million users on Facebook, Instagram, and other social media sites are struggling with mental illness and are using the Internet as a coping mechanism.

As per research report by University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine:-

Symptoms of Cyber Addiction / E-Addiction:

  1. You can’t stop yourself from repeatedly checking texts, emails, news feeds, websites, or apps
  2. Trouble completing tasks at work or home because you’ve been busy chatting online, texting, or playing video games.
  3. Feel like no one in your “real” life—even your spouse—understands you like your online friends?
  4. In a meeting or chatting with friends, lose track of what’s being said because you’re checking messages or updates on your phone?
  5. You feel your phone vibrating but when you check, there are no new messages or updates.
  6. Feeling of dread, anxiety or panic if you leave your Smartphone at home, the battery runs down or the operating system crashes.

Reason of Cyber Addiction / E-Addiction:

  1. The exposure to highly idealised representations of peers on social media elicits feelings of envy and the distorted belief that others lead happier, more successful lives.
  2. People that engage in activities of little meaning on social media makes them feel like they are wasting time that negatively influenced the moods. Spending more time on social media increases the exposure to cyberbullying, thus causing feelings of depression.
  3. Since few real life relationships can compete with these neat, virtual relationships, you may find yourself spending more and more time with online friends, retreating from your real world family and friends.
  4. Can trigger the release of the brain chemical dopamine and alter mood. And just like using drugs and alcohol, you can rapidly build up tolerance so that it takes more and more time in front of these screens to derive the same pleasurable reward.

  • Nomophobia: Fear of being without Mobile Phone
  • EADD: Exacerbating attention deficit disorders, ADD is a neurobehavioral developmental disorder. People with ADD have difficulty staying focused on one task and controlling their impulses and are often fidgety or hyperactive
  • Digital amnesia: Not relying on brain memory to recall information instead using search engines to establish facts and get answers
  • OCD: Obsessive compulsive disorder is a mental disorder where people feel the need to check things repeatedly.
